Here’s what some of the gite’s guests have said about their stay at Normandy Gite Holidays
What a treat to be the first guests in this lovely, cosy and welcoming gute during this Easter weekend! After long days exploring the rich cultural heritage of Normandy, it has been a delight to return here in the evenings and snuggle with the family in front of the fire. Chris, you’ve been wonderful – thank you for your insider tips and friendly advice! Though it’s a shame this has been a short stay, we’re already looking forward to coming back.

We have had a truly wonderful stay in the gite. We have spent our days sightseeing and it has been lovely to come back to a place that feels like home! We thoroughly recommend the zoo to any families staying in the future, and the aquarium in Cherbourg is perfect for rainy days. Thank you, Chris, for a wonderful holiday – we can’t wait to return!

We’ve both agreed that we have never stayed at such a well equipped gite/uk cottage. A beautifully tasteful, superior property renovation. Well done, Chris. All the hard work was worth it!
As for the area is concerned, don’t be in too much of a hurry to get to the normal ‘tourist sights’ as there are some local delights you could miss if you don’t look. We went to a folk evening in the square and a local choir evening (sounds dry but far from it!). Ask at the Tourist Information Office. Cheap meal galore (except Mont St Michel). Beware £10 at MSM for parking.
All in all, a lovely relaxing holiday made possible by charming, attentive (but respectful) hostess. Thanks, Chris.

We are in France for the Euro 2016 and have been touring since 11 June. We have had a great time in Normandy, despite bad weather. The gite is wonderful, so well-equipped and so spacious. Thanks, Chris, for the warm welcome and for your concern (leaving a note to warn us) about the impending thunderstorms. We are sorry to be leaving (have to support our team -NI) but we hope to be back someday to enjoy more of Maison Ella. Many thanks, Chris

Our stay was great and Chris was a huge help. This was the first family holiday we had been on in around 10 years and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. I am used to being on holidays where I get up and do things and it given this was an area I wasn’t familiar with, I was hesitant at first about what I would do. Upon arriving though the gite was full of brochures and maps telling us of all the locations! We actually used one of the maps and just drove around the area with only this map. Chris was also a great help in telling us what to do. Seeing Mont Saint Michel is a must as well as all the little villages surrounding the area. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend the gite to my friends thinking of visiting the area. Great holiday home.

We have had a wonderful holiday – lovely family time which is very rare now our eldest son has turned 14. The gite has been a perfect base to explore a beautiful area. The weather hasn’t been perfect but it hasn’t stopped us. We really have made the most of our week here. Granville has given us our best days. We spent our first and last days there and even got a little sunburnt today. St Malo was another place to visit as well at Mont St Michel. Yesterday we visited the Normandy Landing Beaches. The American cemetery and the sight ofover 9000 graves was a truly humbling experience.
Chris has been very helpful from the booking stage and throughout our stay.

Very well appointed 3 bedroom converted barn. Chris has really thought about what holiday makers need and provided it. High chair, cot, nappy sacks, shade umbrella, etc are all there. The gite is very modern and feels well built. Captures the sun during the day, and I imagine stays warm in winter, together with the help of a stove in the lounge and central heating. We absolutely loved the roller shutters on ally the bedroom windows which completely block out all sunlight!! Well situated amongst plenty of places to visit – local zoo is great, nice beaches and villages. It would have been nice to be able to walk into the local village on a footpath (have to walk single file along a busy road, but driving if effortless and convenient.

Before reviewing the gite itself, I’d like to say a word about Chris, the owner. She is very thoughtful, and has provided every amenity any guest could wish for. Although she lives nearby, she is careful to mind her guests’ privacy, but is always cheerfully available if there is anything she can do to help you enjoy your time at Gavray, even offering some delicious pears picked that moment from her garden. She is very well-informed about the locality and, when it comes to making your reservation, she is efficiency itself. The gite is newly renovated, bright, and spacious, well-fitted out, and comfortable. There is a garden, garden furniture, and plenty of parking space. The gite is situated not far from a fairly busy road, but we were not at all troubled by noise. We were able to wander round the local lanes, and our son-in-law actually ran most of them, even though the weather was very warm! The town of Gavray is nearby, and well within reach of all that Normandy has to offer. It is only hour and half from Cherbourg, so an easy run from the ferry port. If you chance to be here over the first weekend of September, nearby Percy, a charming town, holds an annual tractor and vintage car show. Slightly mad and brilliant atmosphere. Frites and beer to add to the fun. On a sunny day and if you work the tide timetable to be sure the sea is out, go to Monmartin-sur-Mer. On the brow of the hill above, there is a breath-taking view out over the wonderful beach, and the little town centre itself has a beach-side cafe and even a tiny art gallery.

There is nothing to fault this contemporary finish barn conversion that is light and airy. There is plenty of space for dining and leisure. Of particular note in November was the insulation and heating that kept the place warm throughout the night and day. The beds and bedding were warm and comfortable. Plenty of storage space also. We know the area well, having lived there for over twenty years previously. There was a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the local owner. There were no niggles or complaints. We have already booked again for 2017.This holiday home in a quiet setting is a gem not to be missed.
