There’s a bumper crop of Christmas markets this weekend in Normandy – with over 20 happening in La Manche region alone. Normandy Christmas markets tend to be fairly traditional and often feature a ‘creche vivant’ and a (hopefully) well behaved donkey or cow. Most villages and towns are tastefully decorated with lights and there’s also plenty of vin chaud (mulled wine) to be had. Stalls sell traditional hand made gifts and food, naturally, plays a big part.

Next weekend is the turn of Gavray, Coutances and Villedieu-les-Poêles to host their markets and Granville’s is on 22 – 24 December.
